We arrived in Calgary last night and Pat and Earl were waiting to meet us and guide us back to their house. It doesn't matter that we've been here loads of times, I still have no idea how to get to the house. The grid layout should make it easier but it just makes everything look the same. We have a hire car called a kia soul (?) which looks like a small hearse and has its steering wheel positioned right in front of the speedometer.
Today we have had a relaxing day chatting and catching up with the rose/hill clan, some of whom (earl) are still waiting for andy to surprise them by turning up unexpectedly. So far (for andy's information!) we have seen pat, earl, nancy, beth, stuart, nathan, emily, tom, roxanne, david, nicole and matthew. Oh and beth's family's cute fluffy puppy called blaise. We had dinner all together (nancy's tasty lasagne) and then played tonka, a legendary canadian card game which mum always wins after pretending for an hour she has no idea what's going on. Andy you will be pleased to hear we partook of a couple of sneaky little glasses of baileys too :-)
I must also mention that today I have demonstrated impressive diy skills by a) opening mum's cases with pliers and a screwdriver b) re-inking the cooker controls using black nail varnish.
It's now only 10.30 but we are more than ready for nesting and it still feels like about 5am! Night night :-)
