Mon 22nd Aug - Still in Calgary

We had a most incredibly lazy day today. First we both went back to sleep after the alarm had gone off, then we had showers in the nice new shower and didn't get round to having breakfast until about 11 by which time it wasn't really worth it. We had coffee and yoghurt as a compromise.
It was a hot and muggy day and much of it was spent relaxing in the back garden, chatting and reading. We had the formal hand over (recorded too for security reasons) of Andy and Nancy's wedding card. The original was sent over a year ago by recorded mail but never got there. It eventually turned out that there was no trace of it even leaving Toronto. So this one is in mum's possession and just for the record is in the large pocket of her handbag.

Chai Lattes in Safeway carpark
Mum and I went on a rescue mission down to safeway at the bottom of the road to get some tomato sauce to put in the dinner (it comes in tins like regular tomatoes but is like passata). I treated myself to a bottle of lilywhite corn syrup too so I can make butter tarts at home some time mmm. We also had chai lattes like we did with nancy and they were just as tasty as before. On the way back we stalked a black squirrel but it seemed to notice us coming every time.

Evidence of Nancy's victory
In the evening after our super quick and tasty spanish rice dinner (mince, aka 'hamburger'(!), tomato sauce x2, some herbs and a load of instant rice), nancy came over and we had a last game of tonka. It did not go well for the british contingent. We ate some of pat's cookies but it didn't help.

Tomorrow turns out to be Earl's birthday, which we should have known but didn't. Bad relatives. And we are going home. The end of the trip seems to have sneaked up on us a bit and it will be sad sad sad to leave pat and earl and nancy as it always is. My last favourite bit of each visit I think.
