We headed out to Peter and Elvie's place pretty early. Muriel and Gordon navigated us out past all the construction work and then we had very precise instructions about how to get to their land which turned out to be completely foolproof.
Peter is Peggy and Oz's son (his granny is mum's granny's sister so he and mum are 2nd cousins) and his family are wife Elvie (who we hadn't met before) and children Matt (not there) Kayleen and Little Peter (both there, both at university). Peggy's daughter Patsy also came along for lunch with her kids - Teagan who we were meeting for the first time, Dani (who studied in the UK and visited mum last year) and her friend Maren who visited too. It was Dani's birthday and they had to rush off after lunch because they had lots of birthday stuff planned but it was lovely to catch up and we had a nice chat, about schools and food and travel and all sorts. Kayleen had made a pistachio pudding with bright green pistachio stuff in.
We went out with Muriel and Gordon for a very tasty Cajun meal. I had no idea about what Cajun was really but it turned out to be very good and not too spicy. I had a massive combo platter of Louisiana jambalaya, red beans and smoked sausage and Creole shrimp and so did mum.
After dinner we visited their daughter Barb who we hadn't met before and her family Raoul, Caitlin and Liam and their dog Millie. We had a Baileys when we got in and I was ready to drop...very tiring this holidaying business. The Baileys was the first alcohol I've had for ages - maybe the headaches have been withdrawal symptoms...

In the afternoon Kayleen and Little Peter took us out on the quad bikes (actually go carts, a bit lower and smaller) until one broke down at the edge of a marshy swamp. Peter managed to get it going again and we drove back to the house but then Peter (his dad) couldn't mend it. Mum and I took turns driving the remaining quad with Kayleen, it was fun. I narrowly missed a little mouse in the grass. We also saw a hummingbird at the feeder, and a wasps' nest that Peter had hung up in the porch to deter other wasps and which a wren had moved into.
| Watch out! I'm about to drive it! |

After tea and tasty cakes we headed back to St. Albert but with less success then on the journey out (we ended up back on the annoying part-constructed Anthony Henday).
