Sat 6th Aug - Farmers' Market

In the morning we headed off to Millarville farmers' market with Nancy and Beth. Lots of fruit and veg stalls of course and some crafts, plus many many (sometimes v expensive) tasty foodstuff stalls eg maple syrup, beef bacon, elk burgers, scallops the size of your fist etc etc. There were samples to be had of most of the things and it would have been rude not to. I bought some v tasty dark maple syrup and nancy and I bought a massive box of fish to make into a fish dinner when we come back.
In the afternoon we had a visit from Joan and Mike who were on their way back to California (by car!) following mike competing in ultraman canada. This is day 1: 10k swim + about 100 mile bike ride. Day 2: about 250 mike bike ride. Day 3: a double marathon. Wow. It was the first time we'd met Mike except on facebook so that was good, and they stayed quite a while...they are probably still driving now...
Pat (Joan's mum) sent some homemade baked beans to Pat who lives here and we all shared them for our dinner. I didn't know anyone made their own baked beans but they were a completely different beast and very good mixed with Nancy's meatballs.
Every time I hear 'Canada' in a Canadian accent it makes me think of the "Welcome to Canada" beaver on you tube hee hee hee
